The Supreme Court of Ghana has scheduled January 28, 2026, to deliver its decision on whether to quash a High Court judgment that annulled the 2024 parliamentary election results in the Kpandai Constituency of the Northern Region.

The case centers on the decision by the Tamale High Court, which on 24 November 2025 nullified the election of NPP MP Matthew Nyindam and ordered a rerun poll after a petition by NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal.

Nyindam’s legal team argues the High Court lacked jurisdiction because the petition was filed outside the legally mandated 21-day window after results were gazetted—meaning the High Court should not have entertained it. Wakpal’s lawyers counter that the relevant Gazette was published on a later date, keeping the petition within the allowed timeframe.

While the Supreme Court reviews the application to quash the High Court’s decision, preparations for the rerun originally scheduled by the Electoral Commission remain suspended.
